In December 2009 we joined with St Anne's in
supporting
Neighbors Food Shelf.

Neighbors Inc.is a non-profit, social service
agency serving Northern Dakota County
communities since 1972.

You can help by bringing non-perishable food
items.

They can be dropped off in the basket in the
narthex. (just left of the entry doors)

             Our Family from Ethiopia

This spring our community adopted the Mumade family from
Ethiopia.

The father, Jafar, is 29 and has had some formal
education. He worked in the food service industry.

The mother, Suhiza, is 26, has had some elementary
education and  has done some selling, perhaps at a market
booth.

Hamdi is 4 and  especially quick at learning words and
numbers.

Mabruka is 2 and is not as  interested in picking up English,
but does if prompted and loves to  imitate her sister.

Both daughters were born in the refugee camps. All family
members are happily awaiting the birth of the new baby in
August 2010, a boy.

The whole family has a sharp sense of humor and laugh
readily.  The parents are gracious and polite and always
looking to feed us when we visit. Very little English is spoken
or understood, but is  improving steadily. Most of their
furnishing needs have been met or exceeded with the help
of St John's Lutheran Church in  Woodbury.

Please contact Art or Colleen if you have the time/interest in
helping with this outreach.
